A Journey to relaxation- exercise
I found the audio was helpful in slowing me down, but I found it hard to relax my mind. When he direct the listener to imagine the blood leaving the abdominal cavity and into the arms.. My mind started tracking the flow of bold through the body trying to find what route the blood would take from the abdominal area to the arms and hands. For the most part it did slow me down it was a good short break. What I thought was the most important part of the Journey was the use of the mind to bring about change. This is something we can do for ourselves. We can relax our arms, shoulders, neck, eyes and other parts of the body if we allow our minds to facilitate.

Hi Kevin,
ReplyDeleteYou cracked me up when you mentioned how instead of relaxing, your mind started tracking the flow of blood through the body. That part made me think of how blood flows as well; made me think of my days early on at Kaplan when I took anatomy and physiology. lol I have a difficult time using recordings like Journey On for relaxation purposes. I find the voice talking distracting; I prefer music or some other type of 'white noise'.
Beth :)
LoL, yea you got very side tracked. You got me wondering the same thing now though. lol. But yea, even if anything, the exercise will slow you down and let you relax a little, relax your body anyways. haha
ReplyDeleteHey Kevin, I find you blog on the journey to relaxation very interesting, I have never heard a description quite like yours, I like it. I completely loved the relaxation experience and had a bit of a different outcome than you. I practically fell into day dreaming and did not want to move afterwards. My body felt like it was in a coma I was so relaxed. I also found it to be emotional at times too when thinking of a special person in my life during the wonderful background music. With this experience, I would incorporate this with my own clients with all kinds of stress in any population. By doing this, I hope it will help them with the stress they are going thru and provide further information on relaxation, tips and other great tools and encourage them to also do this at home in a quiet environment. I find your overall blog very detailed and I loved reading everything that you have shared with us, that is cool, but I hope to see some pictures and maybe even some extra color to make it more inviting! If you have time, take a longer look at the templates they provide. How did you like developing your blog? I have never done this before and found it to be very enjoyable, and better than Facebook. I am still tinkering with buttons to see how everything works, any tips you may have, please share! Good luck to you in your future Kevin!
